Leaf Collection Begins the Week of Nov. 3

October 15, 2025

To assist residents with fallen leaves, the City of Staunton will begin its annual leaf collection program the week of Nov. 3, 2025, continuing through early January.

Residents who would like to participate should rake leaves to the curb or street right-of-way, keeping them away from storm drains and free of rocks, branches or other debris. Leaf piles containing debris will not be collected, as they can damage collection equipment.

Take extra care to keep leaves off of sidewalks and pedestrian paths to maintain safe access for everyone.

Crews will start in the northwestern portion of the city and move through Staunton in phases as shown in the map below. A final, city-wide collection will take place in January.

Leaves must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. to be collected. Please note that winter weather events or other operational priorities may affect the schedule. Leaf collection will not occur on city holidays, including Nov. 27-28, Dec. 25-26, and Jan. 1-2.

Individual street schedules cannot be provided.

Collected leaves will be provided to local farms for composting.
