City of Staunton residents can dispose of large, bulky items during the city’s fall heavy trash collection. Items must be placed at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 8. Crews will collect items over a two-week period, with all pickups completed by Friday, Sept. 19.

Important: Once collection crews have passed through a neighborhood, they will not return. Items placed at the curb after 7 a.m. on Sept. 8 may not be picked up.

What You Can Put Out: Use this opportunity to dispose of large appliances, furniture, mattresses, and other household items that don’t fit in regular trash containers.

Items Not Accepted: The following items will not be collected and should be disposed of properly:

  • Hazardous waste (pesticides, oil-based paint, chemicals)
  • Car batteries
  • Electronics
  • Stumps, rocks, and concrete

  • Tires

Hazardous waste can be safely disposed of during the Staunton, Augusta, Waynesboro Household Hazardous Waste Day on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Waynesboro Facilities Shop (900 Essex Ave.) More details can be found at: https://www.acsawater.com/disposalguide.
