The City of Staunton invites residents to take part in the final in-person community open house for the Comprehensive Plan Update on Monday, Nov. 10, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Bessie Weller Elementary School (600 Greenville Ave.). This event is the last of three community meetings designed to gather input from residents, property owners, and stakeholders to shape the city’s future.
taunton’s Comprehensive Plan informs policies and decision-making over the next 20 years. The updated plan will include a renewed vision for Staunton addressing key topics such as housing, transportation, parks, economic growth, and neighborhood character.
The open house will feature informational displays and interactive stations where attendees can share feedback on the goals and priorities that will guide Staunton’s future. Each station will reflect what the community has shared so far, from the needs identified at the first open house to refined goals from the second, as well as ongoing stakeholder input and data analysis.

The plan will inform local elected officials on various vital issues impacting residents’ daily lives, its success depends on the community’s continued feedback and ideas.
“The Comprehensive Plan is built through listening, hearing what residents value most and what they’d like to see in Staunton’s future,” said Community Development Director Rodney Rhodes. “This open house is another step in that process, and we hope residents will join the conversation.”
Residents are welcome to stop by anytime during the 90-minute open house. Feedback gathered will help refine the plan’s final recommendations.
The project timeline spans about 18 months, ending in early 2026, and has involved a robust community and stakeholder engagement process. Additional opportunities to share input, including a final survey focused on plan recommendations, will follow the open house.
