Community Survey Opens to All Staunton Residents

October 28, 2025

The City of Staunton is conducting its second National Community Survey, and it is now open to all residents, giving everyone the opportunity to help shape the city’s future.

“By sharing your thoughts in this survey, you’re helping City Council and staff make informed, data-driven decisions that reflect the priorities of the people we serve,” said City Manager Leslie Beauregard.

How to Participate
All residents aged 18 and older are asked to visit polco.us/staunton2025op and complete the survey. Responses are confidential and anonymous.

The survey was first sent to 3,000 randomly selected Staunton households. This is done to limit bias and best represent the city’s full population. The now-open, community-wide phase allows all residents to participate so every voice can be heard.

This survey is identical to the randomly sampled version, except that it asks whether you live in Staunton and how you heard about the survey. After submitting responses, participants will have the option to sign up for future surveys.

Both the community-wide and randomly selected surveys will remain open through Nov. 11.

If your household was among the original 3,000 chosen, please use the website link provided in the mailed invitation or return the paper copy you received.

What the Survey Covers
The National Community Survey captures opinions on topics such as the economy, mobility, community design, utilities, safety, the natural environment, inclusivity, and overall quality of life. Results will highlight Staunton’s strengths, identify areas for improvement, and reveal what matters most to residents.

The city will also be able to compare its performance with other communities nationwide. Results are expected in early 2026. Staunton plans to conduct the survey every other year.

The survey is being conducted through a partnership with Polco and the National Research Center, using a platform utilized by hundreds of communities in nearly every U.S. state.
