City of Staunton Holiday Schedule Modifications

The schedules for City of Staunton offices and facilities will be modified in observance of the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays.

Administrative Offices will be closed on Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1-2. 

Trash Collection Schedule
Note: Residential trash collection for Thursday and Friday routes will move to Wednesday for both holiday weeks.

Residential:

  • Christmas Week: Trash normally scheduled for Thursday (Dec. 25) and Friday (Dec. 26) will be collected Wednesday, Dec. 24.
  • New Year’s Week: Trash normally scheduled for Thursday (Jan. 1) and Friday (Jan. 2) will be collected Wednesday, Dec. 31.

Downtown Central Business District (CBD):

  • Christmas Week: Collections will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 24 and again on Monday, Dec. 29.
  • New Year’s Week: Collections will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 31, and Saturday, Jan. 3, with normal pickup resuming Monday, Jan. 5  

Recycling Center Hours
The Recycling Center will be closed Dec. 25, Dec. 26, Dec. 27, Jan. 1, and Jan. 2. The Recycling Center is always closed on Wednesdays.

Christmas Tree Pickup & Yard Waste Collection
The city will collect discarded Christmas trees on Wednesday, Jan. 7 along with monthly yard waste collection in city-issued bins.

  • Residents must place trees at the curb by 7 a.m.
  • Trees will be mulched; please ensure all decorations (lights, ornaments, tinsel, etc.) are removed.
  • This collection is for live trees only; artificial trees will not be collected.

Library Hours
The Staunton Public Library will close early at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Dec. 31. The library will be closed Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1-2. Normal hours resume on the Saturdays following each holiday (Dec. 27 and Jan. 3).

The outdoor book drop will be open for returns, and digital books and other online resources are available 24/7 at The Staunton Library Website.
